Terra House since 2022: two holiday apartments near the sea in Ventspils

Terra House is the first of our houses, and it has welcomed guests since 2022. It is a long, dark timber house in the quiet seaside streets of Ventspils, with two holiday apartments under one roof and the sea seven minutes on foot — an easy choice when you want to be near the sea without being in the middle of town.

Two apartments, the same on both sides

Terra House holds two apartments of equal size, mirrored under one long roof. Each is about 40 m² plus a sleeping loft, and each has everything of its own:

• Its own entrance
• A kitchen and living room of about 21 m², with a sage-green kitchen, an oak worktop and a round table under the slatted gable
• Two bedrooms of 8.1 m² — one with a double bed, one with two single beds
• A terrazzo bathroom with a rain shower
• A sleeping loft up the ladder
• Its own end of the garden terrace

Neither apartment is the "better" one, and they share no wall, so you will not hear your neighbours, and they will not hear you. Book one, or both for a bigger group.

The bathrooms

Each apartment has its own bathroom in terrazzo — pale stone with flecks of colour — with a rain shower behind black-framed glass, a black basin tap, a towel rail and a WC. Towels are included.

The terraces

Each apartment opens onto its own end of the garden terrace: a paved terrace with a table and chairs, young cypresses along the wall and the lawn between the two ends. At dusk the path lights come on by themselves; the terrace lights have a switch by the big window. It is the place for breakfast outside, and for sitting late when the light in June hardly fades.

And the sea

The sea is seven minutes on foot. The same way leads into the seaside park, with its paths through the pines, and on to the Blue Flag beach, the aqua park and the old town. Ventspils is a small port city with a long, wide beach and more playgrounds per child than any town we know.

Why Terra

The first of the family is a house of earth colours — dark timber, sage green, terrazzo — with wheat in its mark. Our second house, Kaia, a few streets away, is named for the sea; Terra is named for the ground it stands on.
